As a 3C purchasing manager in Abuja, Nigeria, I met YYW at the Hong Kong Global Sources Show. This Chinese 3C consumer factory stood out with its exquisite craftsmanship and professional services. 1.Nigerian market demand and cooperation opportunities with Chinese suppliers

As Musa, the purchasing manager of 3C Technology Trading Company in Abuja, Nigeria, I have been traveling around the world looking for high-quality sources of 3C products.


In Nigeria, as the economy gradually recovers, people's demand for smart phones, tablets and other devices has surged, and the 3C accessories market has also seen explosive growth, but local manufacturing is unable to meet the demand, which means that importers like us must look for opportunities in overseas markets.

2.Meeting at the exhibition and finalizing cooperation

3.Careful choice of YYW payment method

After confirming the purchase intention, the payment method became the primary negotiation issue. When importing goods from China to Nigeria, common methods such as PayPal, wire transfer, and letter of credit each have their own advantages and disadvantages.


Lena patiently analyzed for me that although PayPal is convenient, the handling fees and foreign exchange conversion costs for large transactions are too high. The letter of credit process is complicated, and a deposit must be paid in advance, which will occupy a lot of funds.


Considering the security of the first cooperation, under Lena's professional advice, I chose the wire transfer method. Within 3 working days after the contract was signed, I remitted the funds to the Chinese account provided by Yinyewang through the company's local bank in Nigeria.


Although the wire transfer fee is about 1% of the remittance amount, it can ensure the safety of funds, and this fee is worth it. After the remittance was completed, I sent the voucher to Lena, and soon received confirmation of the receipt of the funds.


4.Careful arrangement of logistics and transportation of Chinese suppliers

After the payment is completed, logistics and transportation become the key link. Lena provided me with two options—air and sea transportation—according to the goods' situation, and carefully compared the differences between them.


The cost of sea transportation is low, but the transportation cycle is as long as several weeks. Although air transportation is more expensive, it can deliver the goods in 3-5 days.


Considering that this batch of goods needed to be stocked before Nigeria's shopping season, I decisively chose air transportation. Lena quickly coordinated with Yinyewang’s long-term partner, a professional international logistics company, to assist me with customs declaration and preparation of customs clearance documents. She also strictly supervised the product packaging to ensure every item was well-protected.


The goods were shipped from the Shenzhen factory and arrived at Lagos International Airport in just 3 days. Thanks to Lena’s advance preparation of documents such as the certificate of origin and product certification, the customs clearance process went smoothly. After paying tariffs and customs clearance fees accounting for about 15% of the goods’ value, I successfully picked up the shipment.


5.Harvest and Outlook

When I saw that the goods were intact and the quality was consistent with the samples at the exhibition, I finally felt relieved.


After this batch of products was put on the market, they quickly became hot-selling products with excellent quality and reasonable prices, and the sales volume far exceeded expectations.
